Felix Pitre is a Kennedy Center Teaching Artist providing professional development workshops for teachers through their CETA (Changing Education Through the Arts) Program (Workshops can be designed for single event or multiple visits).

Using Bilingual Storytelling and Music in the Classroom: A teacher workshop giving hands on experience with bilingual storytelling, techniques and material background for the teacher to incorporate in their classroom curriculum. Exercises explore Spanish/English repetition, "Story Theatre" style, diverse cultural differences and the use of music both vocal and instrumental.

 

Storytelling/Writing Workshop for Students (Grades 3-6): In this workshop students explore writing and performing while learning about Latin America. They experience a story performed in "Story Theatre" style and participate in exercises to develop their skills in putting sentences together, organizing their thoughts and creating a complete story with a begining, middle and end. they are guided in performing their stories in groups and possibly having it recorded on video tape.
